Where is Estepona?

Estepona is located on the western part of the Costa del Sol, Andalucía, Spain.

The region covers some 137 square kilometres including 21km of coast line, population is just over 66,000.

Which Airports for Estepona?

There are two airports that are close to Estepona, Malaga Airport is a distance of 83.5 kilometres away and about an hour’s drive to the town. Gibraltar Airport is closer at 46.7 kilometres and about a 40 min drive.
You can get a bus from both airports, at Malaga Airport the bus stop is right outside Terminal 3 arrivals, more details on our Transport guide.
When arriving at Gibraltar Airport you will need to get to the bus station at La Linea, only a 10 min walk from the border which is right next to the airport, again more details on out transport guide.

Where does the bus services go?

From Estepona bus station you can travel to local towns such as Sabinillas, Puerto Duquesa, Casares, Sotogrande, La Linea, Gibraltar and on to Algeciras going west.
Estepona is also very close to San Pedro, Puerto Banus, Marbella, Mijas Costa, Torremolinos, Fuengirola going east towards Malaga.
Further afield you can travel to Seville, Malaga City, Cordoba, Cadiz, Madrid and other destinations in Spain, these will take some further planning as you will have the option of the Renfre train service to consider.

What to do in Estepona?

There are always activities going on in Estepona during the year with the summer months being the busiest. Fiesta time in Estepona starts in May and continues through to September with food festivals on the paseo as well as the patron saints days such as Día de San Isidro Labrador on the 15th May and the Virgen del Carmen (patron saint of fishermen) on the 16th July with San Juan celebrated on 23rd June.

Where are the markets in Estepona?

There are two weekly markets in Estepona, one on a Wednesday located at Calle Carmen Laforet and surrounding streets, here you can buy almost anything from fruit & veg, meats, fish, clothing, spices, handbags, shoes and a selection of other stalls selling gifts and handmade jewellery, times of opening 09.00 – 14.30.
The Sunday market is located in the Estepona Marina (port) and is smaller with stalls selling clothing, handbags, shoes and other goods, there are no food stalls. Perfect for a Sunday morning with local bars and restaurants offering coffee, tapas and breakfast, opening times 09.00 – 14.30.
