The Orchestra of the Professional Conservatory of Music ‘Paco de Lucía’ of Algeciras will offer a free concert at the Felipe VI Auditorium.
Under the direction of the pianist, composer and conductor, Joaquín Castellano, the Orchestra will perform a varied repertoire, ranging from music from films and musicals, such as ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, ‘Forrest Gump’ or ‘La Misión’, to works of the purest symphonic style, such as ‘El Amor Brujo’ by Manuel de Falla or fragments of the opera ‘Carmen’ by G. Bizet, among others, going through Pop-Rock pieces taken to the symphonic world.

Joaquín Castellano is a professional pianist and conductor, as well as a composer and jazz musician. He works as an orchestra teacher at the ‘Paco de Lucía’ Professional Conservatory of Music in Algeciras, and is also a teacher at the ‘Solfeo and Piano Classroom’ of the Municipal Delegation of Culture of the Estepona Town Hall, his hometown. In addition, he has taught orchestra at the ‘Manuel Carra’ and ‘Gonzalo Martín Tenllado’ Professional Conservatories of Music in Málaga and the “José Hidalgo” Conservatories in Torredelmar.
During his extensive musical career, he has offered multiple piano concerts throughout the national territory and has conducted symphony orchestras on numerous occasions, both in Spain and abroad, such as the ‘Philharmonic Orchestra’ and the ‘Opera Studio’ of Moldova, the ‘Kronosladt Orchestra’ from Brasov, in Romania, the ‘Lira Saguntina’ Symphony Orchestra, in Valencia, and numerous orchestras and bands from Higher and Professional Conservatories.
His discography, as a composer and producer, includes the publication of 12 albums in the international market and digital platforms. Likewise, he has composed radio, television and music tunes for audio-visual recordings.
Within the Spanish music scene, Joaquín Castellano has shared the stage and collaborated with numerous artists from the world of Jazz, highlighting several performances at the ‘Sala Clamores’ in Madrid.
During the many facets of his musical career, mention should be made of the stage in which he was immersed in a charity project, conducting the musical direction of ‘Muses in the garden’ for the company of the musical ‘The giving theatre’.
This artist from Estepona has collaborated on many occasions on television and radio programs, offering interviews and live performances. Among the awards received, the ‘Torre Almenara’ Award stands out in the individual cultural modality, in 2019.
Of the performances in his hometown, it is worth mentioning the performance at the closing gala of the XXI Costa del Sol International Fantastic Film Week, the tribute concert to Chopin, on the bicentenary of his birth, the film concert organized by the Unicorn Association and the II Estepona Jazz Week, and the concert “A trip through music”, last year, at the Felipe VI Auditorium.
