The Estepona Town Hall informs that it has organized several events to celebrate the traditional ‘Night of San Juan’, which will take place next Friday, June 23.
In this edition, La Rada beach will host the free concert ‘More than 2,000 sleepless nights’ by Javier Ojeda and his band. During the performance, which will begin at 10:00 p.m., he will present his latest solo album, in addition to taking a tour of more than 40 years of musical career and the main hits of ‘Danza invisible’.
In this concert, Javier Ojeda will also have outstanding collaborations with artists such as the guitarist from Estepona Daniel Casares, the singer and guitarist of the group Airbag from Estepona, Adolfo Díaz, and Julia Martín, recent winner of the 1st Exhibition of Female Artists in Malaga.
On the other hand, at 9:00 p.m. the XLIII Contest of ‘Burning the Mustaches of San Juan’ will begin. The neighbors build ephemeral ‘Júas’, rag dolls with which they joke about well-known characters or facts, which are finally burned at the stake.
Entities, neighborhood associations, groups and other groups that wish may participate, prior registration until June 15 at the municipal Fiestas delegation or by email: fiestas@estepona.es.
The City Council will award six prizes this year: First Prize, 1,000 euros + trophy; Second Prize, 500 euros + trophy; Third Prize, 300 euros + trophy, and three second prizes of 200 euros for the most original Burnings, with the most atmosphere and popularity.
The ‘Burns’ of the contest will be set on fire at 00:00, at the beginning of the Night of San Juan.
Coinciding with this festivity, the Paseo Marítimo de Estepona will host the ‘Magic Market of the Night of San Juan’, whose opening will take place on Thursday 22, at 6:00 p.m. Until June 25 you can enjoy craft and gastronomy stalls, fire shows, workshops, animation, ax shooting and exhibitions from 12:00 to 14:00 and from 18:00 to 24:00.
