The City Council has organised a program of activities to commemorate the
Day of the Foreign Resident.
This event will take place on Saturday April 27, with
a total of 17 countries participating and will showcase the gastronomy, crafts
and traditions of different cultures.
Estepona council informsus this will be the 17th
edition of the Day of the Foreign Resident. On this occasion, the appointment
will be outdoors in the El Calvario Park, where 25 stands of foreign groups
will exhibit, showing the typical products from each country. The objective of
this annual meeting is to strengthen ties and encourage coexistence among
citizens of different nationalities residing in Estepona, in addition to
knowing the culture of each of the countries.
Also, this event is a unique opportunity to taste
the typical cuisine and purchase handicrafts from participating countries:
Paraguay, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Argentina,
Peru, Venezuela, Uruguay, Philippines, France, Poland, Ukraine, Hungary,
Germany and the United States. In addition, there will be booths of charities
that will take advantage of this day to publicize their projects and raise
funds.
Also there will be a score of performances, from
12:30 hours until 7:00 pm, where different countries will offer their typical
dances. There will also be a group of children’s entertainment that will
delight the little ones.
In addition, the Consistory will honor another
year to foreign residents in Estepona that stands out for the work done in the
municipality. In addition, the winners will be Sonia Longman, Marga Lange and
Gunilla Lindström for their collaboration with the community of foreigners,
helping the integration in our municipality.
The initiative by the City Council shows interest in
the needs and concerns of foreign residents, regular meetings are held with
representatives of foreign groups to analyze the situation of the city.
